I'm working with a small, well-established engineering consultancy just outside Central Bristol, who are looking to add an experienced Senior Highway Engineer to their growing team. This is a great opportunity for someone who wants to work in a smaller, more personal environment where they can take real ownership of projects, work closely with clients and have a genuine influence on the continued growth of the business.
The Role
You'll be involved in the design and delivery of a range of highway schemes across the UK, with responsibility for producing high-quality technical designs and supporting projects through the approval process. Your role will include:
- Designing highway schemes, including complex junctions and roundabouts
- Preparing designs and supporting technical approval for Section 278 agreements
- Working in accordance with DMRB and TSRGD
- Designing and reviewing highway drainage
- Using Civil 3D or similar design software
- Working closely with clients and other disciplines
- Providing technical guidance and mentoring to junior engineers
Experience with development drainage and SuDS would be advantageous, although it is not essential.
About You
We're looking for an experienced highways professional with:
- 7+ years' UK highway design experience
- Strong technical highway design experience
- Proficiency in Civil 3D or similar
- Experience designing complex junctions and roundabouts
- Knowledge of Section 278 technical approval processes
- Good understanding of DMRB and TSRGD
- Understanding of highway drainage requirements
- The ability and willingness to mentor junior staff
