I'm currently recruiting on behalf of a well-established and highly regarded accountancy practice based in Watford. They're looking to add a Bookkeeper & Accounts Preparation Specialist to their growing, friendly team. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced accounts professional with strong Xero experience, looking to develop their career within a collaborative and client-focused environment. The practice prides itself on its inclusive culture, where staff are genuinely valued, and success is shared.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Bookkeeping for a diverse portfolio of clients across various industries
  • Preparing annual financial statements and supporting working papers
  • VAT return preparation and compliance
  • Payroll processing for clients in line with current tax regulations
  • Performing month-end tasks including bank reconciliations, journal entries (stock, depreciation, accruals, etc.), and balance sheet reviews
  • Creating and maintaining budgets in Xero for client forecasting
  • Liaising directly with clients to ensure accurate financial records
Key Requirements:
  • Previous experience within an accountancy practice is essential
  • Strong bookkeeping and accounts preparation background
  • Proficient in Xero (certification preferred, but not essential)
  • Excellent attention to detail and organisation
  • Confident communicator, comfortable working directly with clients
  • Able to work independently and within a team
  • Must be within a commutable distance to Watford - this is an office-based role
