I'm currently working with a well-established, privately owned engineering consultancy that is looking to appoint a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join its growing Building Services team. This is an excellent opportunity to work on a diverse portfolio of projects across the residential, commercial, education, industrial, cultural and regeneration sectors, delivering innovative and sustainable mechanical building services solutions from concept through to completion.

The Role

As a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer, you'll play a key role in delivering mechanical building services designs across a range of exciting projects. Responsibilities will include:

  • Designing HVAC, mechanical and public health systems, including calculations, specifications and technical drawings.
  • Producing drawings using AutoCAD (Revit experience is advantageous).
  • Carrying out energy modelling using IES software, including Part L compliance, overheating analysis, TM54, BREEAM HEA04 and Net Zero Carbon assessments where applicable.
  • Completing SAP calculations and producing domestic EPCs.
  • Supporting projects through all design stages, from concept to detailed design and technical coordination.
  • Undertaking site surveys and preparing reports on existing mechanical installations.
  • Assisting with contract administration during construction.
  • Carrying out witnessing and commissioning activities during project handover.
  • Liaising with clients, architects, contractors and wider design teams to deliver high-quality engineering solutions.

About You

To be considered, you'll ideally have:

  • A degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Strong mechanical design experience within the Building Services sector.
  • Experience using AutoCAD, with Revit knowledge being beneficial.
  • IES modelling experience (desirable).
  • Chartered status or be working towards Chartership.
  • A full UK driving licence.
