An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Junior Mechanical Engineer to join a growing building services consultancy in Birmingham. Established for more than 25 years, this independently owned consultancy delivers mechanical, electrical and building performance engineering solutions across a wide range of sectors, including healthcare, commercial, education, residential, life sciences, leisure and public sector projects.

The Role
As a Junior Mechanical Engineer, you will support the delivery of mechanical building services designs across a varied range of projects, working closely with experienced engineers and multidisciplinary teams. You will have the opportunity to gain further experience across projects from concept through to detailed design and construction. Typical responsibilities will include:
- Supporting the design of heating, ventilation, air conditioning and domestic water systems.
- Assisting with mechanical design calculations and technical assessments.
- Preparing drawings, specifications, reports and other technical documentation.
- Supporting senior engineers with the delivery of projects.
- Coordinating with electrical, BIM and sustainability teams.
- Attending client, design team and site meetings.
- Contributing to projects across healthcare, commercial, residential, education and public sectors.
- Developing your knowledge of sustainable and low-carbon building design.
About You
This is not a graduate position. Previous professional experience in mechanical engineering or building services is required. You will ideally have:
- Previous experience working in a mechanical engineering or building services environment.
- A degree, HNC or HND in Mechanical or Building Services Engineering.
- Some experience with HVAC and mechanical building services design.
- Knowledge of software such as Revit, AutoCAD, Hevacomp or IES.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- A willingness to learn and develop technically.
- An interest in progressing your career within building services engineering.
- A desire to work towards professional development and, where appropriate, Chartership.
