I'm working with one of the UK's largest independent transport planning consultancies, who are looking to strengthen their Basingstoke team with an experienced Senior Transport Planner. This is an excellent opportunity for a transport planner looking to take the next step in their career, working on a diverse range of development-related projects while taking greater responsibility for project delivery, client relationships and mentoring junior colleagues.

The Role

You'll be involved in delivering a variety of transport planning projects, providing technical input and working closely with clients, local authorities and multidisciplinary project teams. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Managing and delivering development-related transport planning projects
  • Preparing Transport Assessments, Travel Plans and Access Appraisals
  • Undertaking trip generation, distribution, assignment and traffic impact assessments
  • Supporting transport strategies and development proposals
  • Using industry-standard software including TRICS, TEMPRO, Junctions and LinSig
  • Applying relevant highway and transport design standards, including MfS, DMRB and LTN 1/20
  • Liaising with clients, local authorities and other stakeholders
  • Attending meetings and supporting public consultations where required
  • Supporting the delivery of highway and sustainable transport solutions
  • Mentoring and supporting junior members of the team
  • Contributing to bids, proposals and business development activities

About You

We're looking for an experienced Transport Planner with a strong background in development-related transport planning. You should have:

  • Strong experience delivering Transport Assessments, Travel Plans and Access Appraisals
  • Good knowledge of transport planning principles and development proposals
  • Experience using TRICS, TEMPRO, Junctions, LinSig or similar software
  • Understanding of MfS, DMRB, LTN 1/20, Active Travel guidance and Healthy Streets principles
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience managing projects and liaising with clients and stakeholders
  • The ability to work independently while contributing effectively to a wider team
  • A willingness to mentor and support more junior colleagues

Membership of a relevant professional body such as TPS, CIHT, ICE or CILT would be advantageous, as would chartership or working towards chartership.
