I'm working with one of the UK's largest independent transport planning consultancies, who are looking to strengthen their Basingstoke team with an experienced Associate Transport Planner. The consultancy works on a wide range of complex development and transport projects, providing innovative solutions to clients across the UK. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced transport planner looking to take greater ownership of projects, develop client relationships and play a key role in the continued growth of the business.
The Role
- Leading multiple transport planning projects from inception through to delivery
- Overseeing Transport Assessments, Travel Plans, Access Appraisals and highway design deliverables
- Developing transport strategies, including multi-modal trip generation, forecasting and scenario testing
- Providing technical expertise across transport modelling and planning
- Managing project teams, delegating tasks and overseeing budgets, quality and programme
- Liaising with clients, local authorities and other stakeholders
- Representing clients at meetings, consultations and public inquiries where required
- Providing strategic advice on transport planning, sustainability and development proposals
- Building and maintaining strong client relationships
- Supporting business development, bids and identifying new opportunities
- Mentoring and developing junior and senior members of the team
About You
We're looking for an experienced transport planner with around 10 years' experience in development-related transport planning. You should have:
- Extensive experience delivering Transport Assessments, Travel Plans and Access Appraisals
- Strong technical knowledge of transport planning, modelling and highway design
- Experience with TRICS, TEMPRO, Junctions, LinSig and similar software
- Knowledge of MfS, DMRB, LTN 1/20, Active Travel guidance and Healthy Streets principles
- Experience leading projects and managing project teams
- Strong commercial awareness and client management skills
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities
- Confidence in making technical decisions and providing strategic advice
- Knowledge of strategic modelling tools such as VISSIM, Paramics or SATURN
- Membership of a relevant professional body such as TPS, CIHT, ICE or CILT
- Chartership, or working towards chartership, would be advantageous.
- Experience with large-scale development projects, business development, expert witness work or public inquiries would also be beneficial.
