The Role

As an Associate Director within the Building Safety team, you will play a central role in advising clients, guiding project teams, and ensuring regulatory compliance across a wide range of schemes. You will contribute to delivering high‑quality consultancy services while supporting the wider team's development and growth.

Key Responsibilities

  • Advising clients and internal teams on responsibilities under the Building Regulations 2010 (as amended) and the Building Safety Act 2022.
  • Acting as Building Regulations Principal Designer, ensuring statutory duties are met.
  • Reviewing design information for Building Regulations compliance and providing practical, solution‑focused advice.
  • Delivering a wide range of Building Safety consultancy services aligned with project needs.
  • Conducting compliance audits, technical reviews, and site inspections.
  • Assessing Building Regulations submission packages, identifying gaps, and supporting approval processes.
  • Potentially delivering internal and external training in Building Regulations compliance.
  • Applying quality assurance principles and contributing to continuous improvement.
  • Staying up to date with legislative changes, industry developments, and best practice.
  • Supporting team leadership and contributing to business development initiatives.

About You

We are seeking a collaborative, technically strong consultant who can operate confidently in client‑facing environments and support the delivery of first‑class service.

Essential Requirements

  • Strong knowledge of Building Regulations and associated secondary legislation.
  • Excellent understanding of technical and functional requirements within the Building Regulations framework.
  • Solid understanding of design and construction processes, with the ability to offer practical solutions.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
  • High levels of accuracy, attention to detail, and professional presentation.
  • Proactive mindset with a willingness to seek senior guidance where appropriate.
  • Competence in Microsoft Office and relevant software tools.
  • Ability to manage multiple concurrent projects effectively.
  • Professional chartership with CABE, CIOB, or RICS.
  • At least 5 years' experience in building regulations compliance or design compliance.
  • Strong understanding of construction and design principles.
  • Full UK Driving Licence.

Desirable

  • Class 2/3 Registered Building Inspector (or demonstrable competence across various building types).
  • Previous experience in Building Control.
  • Line management capability.
  • Commercial understanding and experience supporting business development.
