I'm working with a well-established transport planning consultancy with an office in Oxford, who are looking to add an experienced Transport Planner to their growing team.


The consultancy works across a broad range of development-related transport projects, providing technical advice and practical solutions to clients. This is a great opportunity for a transport planner with 2+ years' experience who is looking to take on greater responsibility while continuing to develop their technical and commercial skills.


The Role


You’ll work across a varied portfolio of development-related transport projects, taking responsibility for your own work and gradually taking greater ownership of project delivery.


Your responsibilities will include:



  • Managing small to medium-sized transport planning projects, including budgets and programmes

  • Preparing Transport Statements, Transport Assessments, Technical Notes, Travel Plans and Access Appraisals

  • Undertaking transport modelling and trip generation/distribution assessments

  • Developing mitigation measures to address highway capacity and active travel requirements

  • Completing access appraisals and developing access options for development schemes

  • Reviewing planning drawings, including visibility splays, vehicle tracking and access designs

  • Carrying out independent site visits and providing professional technical opinions

  • Attending client, project team and Local Highway Authority meetings

  • Supporting public consultations and stakeholder engagement

  • Preparing fee proposals for smaller projects and contributing to larger bids

  • Building strong relationships with clients, architects, planners and highways officers


About You


We’re looking for someone with:



  • 2+ years' transport planning experience

  • A degree-level qualification or equivalent

  • Experience within a development-related transport planning environment

  • Working knowledge of relevant transport design guidance and local planning policy

  • Experience using AutoCAD, TRICS and transport modelling software

  • Good understanding of transport modelling methodologies

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • The ability to manage your own workload and work to deadlines

  • Confidence working both independently and as part of a wider team

  • A proactive approach to problem solving and project delivery


Membership of, or an interest in working towards membership of, a relevant professional body would be advantageous.
