We are seeking an experienced Site Manager to take ownership of site delivery on a challenging construction project. This is a hands-on leadership role, responsible for safety, quality, programme, commercial awareness, and team management on site. You'll lead by example, creating a safe and well-organised working environment while coordinating subcontractors, managing site activities, and ensuring works are delivered efficiently, compliantly, and to a high standard.
Key Responsibilities
- Health, Safety, Environment & Quality
- Establish and maintain a safe, clean, and well-organised site
- Ensure full compliance with H&S legislation, environmental requirements, and site rules
- Develop, maintain, and implement Health & Safety, Environmental, Quality, Waste, Carbon, and MMP's
- Deliver site inductions, toolbox talks, and ongoing safety briefings
- Produce and review risk assessments, method statements, lift plans, and temporary works documentation
- Carry out regular site inspections and manage incident reporting
- Promote a strong safety, environmental, and quality culture across the site
- Planning, Programme & Delivery
- Plan and coordinate site activities to meet programme milestones
- Update and manage the construction programme in collaboration with the Project Planner
- Integrate subcontractor activities and identify delays or risks early
- Chair daily and weekly briefings to ensure clarity of tasks, priorities, and lessons learned
- Manage site records, inspections, testing, and quality assurance documentation
- Commercial & Contractual Management
- Manage subcontractor procurement processes, including enquiries, appraisals, and RAMS reviews
- Oversee contractual paperwork including early warnings, variations, change events, and valuations
- Support interim valuations, final accounts, and commercial forecasting
- Review and authorise subcontractor timesheets and applications for payment
- Identify and provide variation information to the commercial team
- Site Management & Leadership
- Manage labour, plant, and materials to ensure timely and efficient delivery
- Review drawings, specifications, and material requirements, including long-lead items
- Lead, motivate, and develop site teams, delegating responsibilities appropriately
- Monitor team performance, morale, and wellbeing
- Promote a culture of openness, collaboration, and continuous improvement
- Manage training needs, performance issues, and disciplinary matters where required
- Stakeholder & External Coordination
- Liaise with clients, residents, landowners, and stakeholders regarding programme and site activities
- Coordinate with utility providers for diversions and approvals
- Manage permits, licences, and consents as required
- Lead inspections, snagging, handover, and project close-out activities
About You
- Proven experience as a Site Manager on civil engineering or infrastructure projects
- Strong knowledge of construction methods, health & safety, and quality systems
- Confident managing subcontractors, programmes, and site teams
- Commercially aware with experience supporting valuations and change management
- Excellent communication and leadership skills
- Marine or waterfront construction experience is desirable but not essential
