Are you a TBM Shift Manager looking for a new opportunity on a long-term contract? Do you have tunnelling experience working for a civil engineering contractor on infrastructure projects? Are you interested in working in a high responsibility role on an exciting new project? If so, then we may have the right role for you!

Our client is looking to add an experienced TBM Shift Manager to their current team to play a vital role in their project. You will be reporting to the TBM Manager for the proper execution of the tunnelling works during your shift.

Job Details:

  • Key leadership role on a major underground infrastructure project
  • Responsible for the safe and efficient execution of tunnelling works during your shift
  • As TBM Shift Manager, you will be acting as the main point of contact between site teams, control room engineers and senior management
  • Working within established operational, safety and quality procedures

Key responsibilities:

  • Lead and coordinate operatives and subcontractors underground
  • Ensure all works comply with approved WPPs, RAMS and excavation parameters
  • Monitor excavation performance, surface settlements and operational data
  • Identify, report and respond to operational anomalies and special circumstances
  • Take charge during emergency situations within underground works
  • Deliver shift briefings, DABs and clear operational instructions
  • Maintain accurate records of all shift activities
  • Ensure materials, plant and equipment are available and fit for purpose
  • Confirm testing and inspections are carried out in line with requirements
  • Promote and lead by example on health, safety and environmental standards
  • Participate in risk reviews and construction planning discussions
  • Support the development and performance of team members
  • Liaise with operatives to manage workload and gather feedback on production and H&S

Candidate profile:

  • Proven experience in tunnelling or underground construction
  • Previous TBM project experience essential
  • Strong leadership, communication and decision-making skills
  • Comfortable working shifts in a safety-critical environment

The ideal candidate will have:

  • A current and relevant CSCS Card
  • Able to display experience in a similar role working with a civils contractor
  • Shift Manager experience
