A fantastic opportunity has arisen for an experienced

Managing Quantity Surveyor to join a well-established civil engineering contractor delivering major earthworks and infrastructure projects across England.

This is a senior leadership position, ideal for a commercially driven professional looking to take ownership of a growing commercial function while working on projects valued from six figures through to £60m.

Reporting to the Senior Commercial Manager, you'll lead the commercial delivery of multiple schemes from tender handover through to final account, while managing and developing an experienced commercial team.

The Role

As Managing Quantity Surveyor, you'll be responsible for

  • Leading, mentoring and developing the commercial team.
  • Managing the commercial performance of multiple civil engineering and earthworks projects.
  • Producing project budgets, cost plans and cash flow forecasts.
  • Overseeing contractual matters and resolving commercial issues.
  • Managing subcontract procurement and supply chain relationships.
  • Preparing and presenting monthly CVRs and commercial reports.
  • Identifying commercial risks and opportunities to maximise project profitability.
  • Supporting tender submissions, pricing exercises and risk reviews.
  • Working closely with operational teams and clients to ensure successful project delivery.
  • Driving value engineering and continuous commercial improvement.

About You

You'll ideally have

  • A degree (or equivalent) in Quantity Surveying or a related discipline.
  • Professional membership (RICS, CICES or similar) or be working towards it.
  • Around 10+ years' experience within civil engineering, infrastructure or earthworks.
  • Previous experience leading commercial teams.
  • Strong knowledge of NEC contracts.
  • Excellent commercial, financial and analytical skills.
  • Strong negotiation and stakeholder management abilities.
  • A full UK driving licence.
