I'm currently working with a well-established building services consultancy based in London that is looking to appoint a Senior or Principal Mechanical Engineer to join their growing team. The consultancy delivers high-quality mechanical and multi-disciplinary building services solutions across a varied project portfolio, with a strong focus on client relationships, technical excellence, and project ownership.
The Role
You will be responsible for managing and delivering mechanical building services projects from concept through to completion, acting as a key client-facing contact and ensuring projects are delivered to a high technical standard. At Principal level, you will also mentor junior engineers and contribute to the strategic development of the mechanical team.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage mechanical building services projects from inception to completion
- Lead mechanical design, including calculations, specifications, and reports
- Act as a client-facing representative, building and maintaining strong relationships
- Coordinate with internal and external multi-disciplinary teams
- Oversee project delivery, programme, and technical quality
- Provide technical leadership and mentoring to junior engineers
- Ensure designs comply with current regulations and industry standards
About You
- Degree qualified (or equivalent) in Mechanical Engineering or Building Services
- Strong experience within a building services consultancy environment
- Proven experience managing projects and dealing directly with clients
- Comfortable operating at Senior or Principal Engineer level
- Excellent technical knowledge across mechanical building services systems
- Strong communication and organisational skills
- Working towards or holding IEng / CEng status is advantageous
