Are you an experienced structural designer able to take responsibility for complex schemes? Interested to work in the specialist power industry?
This small, well-established Croydon-based specialist design consultancy is part of a large utilities contractor group. They specialise in structural design for projects in the power industry. These are highly technical, often specialist schemes and involve work for clients such as UKPN and SSE.
You will be joining a very experienced team where everyone takes responsibility for their own projects. This role is for an experienced hands-on structural design engineer, able and willing to act as technical lead. You will be handling whole projects autonomously, providing complex design solutions. You should have extensive buildings design experience and ideally be Chartered. Experience in the power sector would be highly advantageous.
The types of projects will include:
- Substation design
- Battery storage facilities
- Design of blast resistant buildings
- Switch houses
- GIS buildings
- Buildings to house transformer cells
- Designing of specialist steelwork structures and supports underground and inside of tunnels to carry heavy power cables
There are refurbishment and new builds involved. Projects normally involve design in steel and concrete, with some masonry and can range from small up to multi-million £ schemes. The work is interesting and complex, with each project being different. The role will include some travel to sites in London and the South East, for which a pool car is provided.
