Utility Surveyor - (All levels)

Location: Warrington / Manchester (projects predominantly across the North West)
Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience + Company Vehicle
Job Type: Permanent, Full-time

We are working with an established and growing surveying company that is looking to recruit a Utility Surveyor to join its expanding North West team.

With a strong reputation in the industry and an increasing workload across infrastructure, construction and development projects, the company offers an excellent opportunity to join a progressive business with ambitious plans for continued growth.

Based out of the company's Warrington / Manchester office, you'll be undertaking underground utility detection and mapping surveys across the North West of England, with occasional travel further afield depending on project requirements.

The Role

  • Undertaking underground utility detection and mapping surveys in accordance with PAS 128 standards.
  • Using specialist equipment including Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR), electromagnetic locators (EML) and CAT & Genny to identify and trace buried services.
  • Accurately locating and mapping underground utilities, including gas, water, electricity, telecommunications and drainage networks.
  • Reviewing existing utility records and interpreting survey findings to identify potential discrepancies or unidentified services.
  • Recording, processing and interpreting survey data to produce accurate utility drawings and reports.
  • Identifying and reporting potential hazards, service conflicts and areas where further investigation may be required.
  • Liaising with clients, contractors and site teams to ensure surveys are completed safely, accurately and within agreed timescales.
  • Ensuring all surveying activities comply with relevant health and safety procedures and industry standards.

About You

We're interested in speaking with Utility Surveyors at different stages of their careers, from those with a year or two of practical experience through to experienced and senior-level surveyors.

Ideally, you'll have:

  • Previous experience undertaking underground utility detection and mapping surveys.
  • Good practical experience using GPR, electromagnetic locators and CAT & Genny equipment.
  • A working knowledge of PAS 128 standards and utility survey methodologies.
  • Experience interpreting survey results and accurately recording underground service information.
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD or other surveying and data-processing software.
  • A good understanding of health and safety requirements when working around underground services and live construction sites.
  • A full UK driving licence.

A qualification in Utility Mapping, Land Surveying or Geomatics, such as a ProQual Level 3, would be advantageous, although practical experience and technical competence are equally important.

What's on Offer?

  • Competitive salary, dependent on experience.
  • Company vehicle.
  • A varied workload across infrastructure, utilities and construction projects.
  • The opportunity to join an established business investing in the continued growth of its North West operations.
  • Exposure to other surveying disciplines, including topographical surveying, laser scanning and drone surveying.
  • A supportive working environment with opportunities for technical development and career progression.
  • Overtime arrangements where additional hours are required.

This is an opportunity to join a well-established surveying business with a strong pipeline of work, modern surveying techniques and genuine ambitions to expand its presence across the region.
