An established, employee-owned international engineering consultancy is looking to appoint a Highway / Infrastructure Design Engineer to join its UK Engineering Design team in Manchester. This role offers the opportunity to contribute to a diverse portfolio of highway and infrastructure projects that support sustainable mobility and long-term placemaking across the UK. You will work within a collaborative, multi-disciplinary environment, gaining exposure to technically challenging schemes while developing your career within a consultancy recognised for its people-first culture and technical standards.
The Role
Working as part of the UK Engineering Design team, you will support the delivery of highway and infrastructure design solutions across all project stages. Your responsibilities will include:
- Preparing detailed designs for highway, drainage and infrastructure projects
- Supporting Section 278 and Section 38 highway approval submissions, with awareness of Section 104 and 106 agreements
- Producing drawings and technical outputs using AutoCAD and Civil 3D
- Applying DMRB, Manual for Streets, DCG drainage guidance and Building Regulations
- Assisting with technical documentation to support future project decision-making
- Delivering work independently while contributing effectively within a team structure
- Communicating clearly with colleagues, clients and wider project teams
What We're Looking For
- Experience delivering highway or infrastructure designs within a consultancy environment
- Knowledge of UK design standards and approval processes
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and Civil 3D, with additional software experience beneficial
- Strong organisational, communication and problem-solving skills
- Degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline
- Membership of CIHT, ICE or an equivalent body, or working towards chartership
