This role plays a key part in ensuring engineering challenges are identified and resolved early, before they become issues on site. You will lead engineering input across projects, support delivery teams, and ensure designs are safe, practical, and aligned with quality and commercial requirements. You will be expected to use sound professional judgement and, where necessary, challenge decisions to protect project outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and support project engineering teams, ensuring they are properly resourced, motivated, and developed.
  • Review proposals from tender and site teams, understanding technical and commercial impacts of design changes.
  • Identify value engineering opportunities while maintaining safety and quality.
  • Ensure temporary works designs are checked in line with company procedures, both in-house and externally.
  • Provide technical leadership on temporary and permanent works issues.
  • Procure and manage external design consultants.
  • Control engineering time, cost, and programme impacts.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Engineering or equivalent.
  • Chartered Engineer status (MIStructE or MICE).
