A well-established, employee-owned planning and transport consultancy is seeking an Assistant / Graduate Transport Planner to join its growing Transport Planning team in Farringdon. This is an excellent opportunity for someone early in their career who is keen to build strong technical foundations while contributing to high-quality, development-led transport planning work.
You will work as part of a collaborative and supportive team, assisting experienced transport planners across a diverse range of projects, from smaller residential schemes through to large-scale mixed-use developments and regeneration projects. The role offers genuine exposure, structured learning and clear progression within a business known for long-term staff retention.
The RoleAs an Assistant / Graduate Transport Planner, you will support the delivery of transport planning commissions from early feasibility through to planning submission. Your responsibilities will include:
- Assisting with Transport Assessments, Transport Statements and technical notes
- Preparing Travel Plans and Travel Packs
- Analysing traffic, census and public transport data
- Supporting swept path analysis and AutoCAD-based design work
- Liaising with internal teams, local authorities and external stakeholders
- Attending meetings, workshops and design reviews
- Contributing to evidence-based, sustainable transport solutions
You will ideally have around one year of experience in a transport planning role, although strong graduates with relevant academic knowledge will also be considered. You should have a genuine interest in areas such as sustainable transport, healthy streets, placemaking, transport policy and development planning.
You will bring:
- An understanding of the UK planning system (e.g. NPPF, London Plan)
- Confidence using Microsoft Office
- Familiarity with tools such as AutoCAD, ARCADY, PICADY, TRICS, TEMPRO, Junctions 9, GIS or census datasets (desirable, not essential)
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- A proactive, flexible and team-oriented approach
