- We are currently seeking an experienced
Principal Consultant / Associate Transport Planner to join a leading independent transport planning consultancy in its
Leeds office .
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced development planning professional to take ownership of projects, develop client relationships and play a key role in the continued growth of the team.
The role would suit someone with around
5-8 years' experience who is looking to take the next step into a senior project management and client-facing position.
The Role
You will take responsibility for a range of development-related transport planning projects , working with clients, local authorities and multidisciplinary project teams.
- Lead and manage development transport planning projects from initial assessment through to delivery.
- Prepare and review
Transport Assessments, Travel Plans and Environmental Statement chapters .
- Develop transport strategies and assess multi-modal trip generation and development scenarios.
- Undertake and oversee transport analysis and modelling using tools such as
Junctions and Lin Sig .
- Manage highway design elements, with knowledge of
Manual for Streets, DMRB, LTN 1/20 and Active Travel/Healthy Streets guidance .
- Lead client relationships and represent the consultancy at meetings and negotiations with Highway Authorities.
- Manage project budgets, resources and programmes.
- Coordinate multidisciplinary teams and ensure high-quality technical delivery.
- Identify opportunities to provide additional value to clients and develop longer-term relationships.
- Business Development & Leadership
At Principal / Associate level, you'll also play an important role in the development of the wider team and business.
- Contribute to business development, fee proposals and pitches .
- Develop and maintain professional and client networks.
- Mentor and support junior and mid-level transport planners.
- Contribute to internal training, professional development and wider company initiatives.
- Help identify opportunities for continued growth across the Leeds market.
What We're Looking For
- Around
5-8 years' experience within development-related transport planning.
- Consultancy or relevant local authority experience.
- Strong experience delivering
Transport Assessments, Travel Plans and development planning projects .
- Good knowledge of UK transport planning policy and development planning principles.
- Experience with
Junctions, Lin Sig, Excel and the Df T Connectivity Tool .
- Knowledge of
Mf S, DMRB, LTN 1/20, Active Travel and Healthy Streets guidance.
- Strong project management and client-facing skills.
- Excellent written, verbal and presentation skills.
- Professional membership of
TPS, CIHT, ICE, CILT or a relevant professional body.
- Chartered status /
CTPP or working towards chartership is desirable.
- Business development and client relationship experience would be advantageous.
