This role is central to shaping viable, buildable solutions from land acquisition through to site completion - ensuring our projects are technically sound, commercially efficient, and executed to the highest standards of design and compliance.

As a technical lead, you will coordinate external consultants, manage engineering design approvals, and act as the main interface between the land, commercial, construction, and planning teams. Key Responsibilities:

  • Design & Coordination - Manage and direct technical consultants (civil, structural, and architectural) to produce robust working drawings and detailed design information.
  • Engineering Leadership - Oversee engineering strategy including site appraisals, levels, drainage, and adoptable works. Provide early technical input to support land viability and design efficiency.
  • Technical Approvals - Secure Building Regulations sign-off, discharge planning conditions, and manage Section 38, 104, and 278 agreements.
  • Buildability & Compliance - Ensure all designs meet NHBC standards, Building Regulations, and company quality benchmarks, with a focus on practical, cost-effective construction.
  • Risk & Value Management - Identify site constraints early, develop technical solutions, and support commercial teams in value engineering and specification alignment.
  • Project Delivery - Act as the technical point of contact throughout construction, resolving site queries swiftly and maintaining design integrity.

Key Requirements:

  • Qualifications: Degree or HNC/HND in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or related discipline.
  • Experience: Extensive background with a housebuilder, developer, or engineering consultancy supporting residential projects.
  • Knowledge: Strong grasp of Building Regulations, NHBC Standards, CDM, and local authority technical approval processes.
  • Skills: Confident in reviewing and coordinating groundworks, drainage, and infrastructure design. Competent in AutoCAD (experience with Revit advantageous). Clear communicator with strong organisational and leadership skills. Collaborative, commercially aware, and solutions-focused.
