A growing infrastructure and utilities engineering business is looking to appoint a Graduate Utility Design Engineer to join its expanding team in Epsom. This is an excellent opportunity for a graduate or early-career professional looking to build a career within utility infrastructure, power networks and cable route design. Working alongside experienced engineers and project teams, you'll gain exposure to projects from initial feasibility and route selection through to detailed design and delivery.

The Role

You'll play an important role in the planning and development of cable route infrastructure projects, helping identify, assess and design routes for power, utility and telecommunications networks. A significant part of the role involves undertaking route feasibility studies, reviewing constraints, assessing utility records, considering land ownership and stakeholder requirements, and helping determine the most effective route for new infrastructure. You'll also gain experience supporting detailed design work involving utility corridors, ducting, chambers and associated civil engineering infrastructure. The role combines technical assessment, engineering design, reporting and stakeholder engagement, providing excellent exposure to the full project lifecycle. Projects support major utility, power and digital infrastructure schemes, giving you the opportunity to work on developments that are helping shape the UK's future energy and connectivity networks.

What We're Looking For

  • Degree in Civil Engineering, Geography, Surveying or a related discipline.
  • An interest in utilities, energy infrastructure, telecoms or major infrastructure projects.
  • Strong analytical and report-writing skills.
  • Experience with AutoCAD would be beneficial.
  • Good Excel skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication skills and a proactive approach to learning.
  • Any exposure to utilities, infrastructure, highways, rail or telecoms projects would be advantageous.
