Our steadily growing client is an established main contractor delivering high-quality public sector construction and refurbishment projects across Essex, London and the South East. Their portfolio includes a wide variety of refurbishment, fit-out and new-build schemes across:

Typical project values range from £500k - £15m, with a strong focus on quality delivery, repeat business and long-term client relationships. Due to continued growth, they are looking to appoint an experienced Estimator to join their team in Hockley.
The Role:
This is an excellent opportunity for a self-sufficient Estimator who is comfortable managing the full tender process from initial enquiry through to final submission with minimal supervision. The successful candidate will thrive in a fast-paced SME environment, taking ownership of multiple tenders simultaneously while working closely with the commercial and operational teams. This is a full-time office-based role, Monday to Friday, 8am - 5pm.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage tender enquiries from initial review through to final submission
- Prepare detailed cost plans, take-offs and pricing documents
- Review drawings, specifications and tender documentation
- Obtain and evaluate subcontractor and supplier quotations
- Identify value engineering opportunities where appropriate
- Liaise with operational and commercial teams throughout pre-construction stages
- Attend tender meetings and assist with client presentations where required
- Build and maintain strong relationships with subcontractors, consultants and clients
- Ensure tenders are completed accurately and within deadlines
Candidate Requirements:
My client is looking for someone dependable, proactive and collaborative - not necessarily a highly corporate sales-style personality, but someone who will integrate well into the existing team and take genuine ownership of their work.
- Minimum 5 years experience in an Estimating role within construction or refurbishment
- Strong understanding of commercial construction processes
- Ability to manage multiple tenders independently
- Excellent organisational and communication skills
- Commercial awareness and attention to detail
Highly Desirable:
- Experience delivering public sector refurbishment projects
- Previous exposure to education, healthcare or care home schemes
- Experience working within an SME contractor environment
Salary & Package:
£60,000 - £70,000 basic salary (depending on experience). Flexibility available for exceptional candidates. Full-time permanent position. Office-based in Hockley, Essex. Further package details discussed at interview stage.
