Working pattern: Hybrid

This is an opportunity to join a major residential developer in a client-side Engineering role, where your focus is on technical oversight, coordination and design management – not fee chasing or timesheets. You’ll join a supportive Technical team of 4–5 engineers, working across a strong, long-term development pipeline with genuine scope to grow and move internally. This role has strong involvement at pre‑planning and planning stage, working closely with land, planning and technical teams to shape schemes from the outset. Experience or working knowledge of engineering input at pre‑planning and planning stage is therefore important.

Why this role stands out:

  • Client-side engineering role within a large residential developer
  • Strong, close‑knit technical team with experienced support
  • Exposure to more complex and higher‑value developments
  • Clear internal progression and opportunity to move across divisions
  • Hybrid working and long‑term workload security

This role suits someone who wants broader influence, better balance, and a long-term career path on the developer side.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Supporting schemes from pre‑planning and planning stage through to delivery
  • Providing engineering input into site feasibility, constraints and early design strategy
  • Overseeing infrastructure and groundworks design across residential developments
  • Managing external engineering consultants covering: foundations, roads and drainage, sewers and adoption works
  • Coordinating Section 38, 104 and 278 agreements, including bond closures
  • Procuring service records and managing enquiries and payments for new infrastructure
  • Working with structural specialists on superstructure-related elements
  • Carrying out value engineering and peer review of consultant designs
  • Liaising with Technical, Planning and Building Control teams to support discharge of planning conditions

What you’ll need:

  • HNC / HND or higher qualification in an engineering-related discipline
  • Around 5+ years’ post‑qualification experience (desirable)
  • Background in civil or structural engineering, from consultancy or a residential developer
  • Experience or good working knowledge of pre‑planning and planning stage engineering input
  • Confidence dealing with highways authorities, utilities and water companies
  • Strong coordination and communication skills
  • Experience using Autodesk tools: PDS or MicroDrainage experience helpful, not essential

What’s on offer:

  • Competitive salary
  • Plus Car allowance, pension, healthcare and additional benefits
  • A supportive, experienced technical team
  • Strong development pipeline offering long-term stability
  • Clear opportunities to progress or move into other business divisions
