The Opportunity
We are working with a well-established civil engineering contractor to recruit a Junior / Assistant Estimator or an established estimator to support their pre-construction and commercial teams. This is an excellent opportunity for an early-career professional or graduate looking to develop a long-term career in civil engineering estimating.
You will work alongside experienced estimators and commercial managers, gaining hands-on exposure to tendering, cost planning and bid preparation across a range of infrastructure and coastal projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with the preparation of tender submissions for civil engineering projects.
- Review drawings, specifications and tender documentation.
- Support take-offs, quantity measurements and cost build-ups.
- Help identify risks, opportunities and value-engineering options.
- Liaise with suppliers and subcontractors for pricing and quotations.
- Maintain accurate records and contribute to tender handover processes.
- Support post-tender reviews and continuous improvement initiatives.
About You
This role would suit someone who is:
- At an early stage of their estimating or civil engineering career.
- Educated to HNC / HND / Degree level in Civil Engineering or Construction (or working towards).
- Keen to learn estimating from first principles within a supportive team environment.
- Organised, numerate and detail-focused.
- Confident using Microsoft Excel and other Office applications.
- A strong communicator with a proactive, positive attitude.
Desirable (but not essential)
- Some site experience within civil engineering or construction.
- Exposure to tendering, cost control or commercial processes.
- Full UK driving licence.
