Contracts Manager – Main Contractor
Bristol, Bath & Surrounding Areas
£70,000 – £75,000 + Package (dependent on experience)
Are you an experienced Contracts Manager with a proven track record of delivering projects across new build, refurbishment, and fit-out schemes? This is a fantastic opportunity to join a well-established main contractor with a strong regional presence, taking the reins on multiple projects across Bristol, Bath and neighbouring areas.
The Company
This SME regional main contractor has built a reputation for delivering high-quality schemes across sectors including commercial (Fit out) and residential (including student accommodation). With a strong order book and continued growth, they are seeking a Contracts Manager to act as the number two to the Construction Director, driving project delivery and ensuring excellence across all live sites.
The Role
As Contracts Manager, you will:
- Take overall responsibility for the successful delivery of multiple projects from pre-construction through to completion.
- Oversee and support Site Managers across a range of schemes, ensuring programme, cost, and quality targets are achieved.
- Manage internal and external packages (envelope, shell & core, M&E, finishes) across new build, refurbishment, and fit-out projects.
- Work closely with the consultants, interrogating drawings, ensuring buildability, and resolving technical queries.
- Implement robust health & safety standards in line with company policy and current legislation.
- Report directly into the Construction Director, providing regular progress updates and identifying areas of risk or opportunity.
The ideal Contracts Manager will bring:
- Demonstrable experience working for a main contractor in a Contracts Manager, Senior Project Manager or similar role.
- Strong all-round construction knowledge covering new build, refurbishment, and fit-out projects.
- Excellent understanding of design management, able to challenge and coordinate consultants, subcontractors, and supply chain.
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects concurrently across different sectors.
- Strong commercial awareness and ability to support project teams with cost control and value engineering.
- Exceptional leadership and communication skills, with the ability to motivate and get the best from teams.
