About the Opportunity
A fantastic opportunity has arisen for an experienced Senior Commercial Director to join a leading main contractor delivering one of the UK's most high-profile infrastructure projects. This is a key leadership position where you'll take overall commercial responsibility for a major long-term programme, working alongside an experienced senior leadership team to drive commercial performance, manage risk and ensure successful project delivery. This role offers genuine strategic influence and the opportunity to play a significant part in the successful delivery of a nationally important infrastructure scheme.
The Role
Reporting into the Commercial Director and working closely with the Project Director, you will be responsible for leading the commercial function across a complex infrastructure project. Your responsibilities will include:
- Providing strategic commercial leadership throughout the project lifecycle.
- Leading and developing a high-performing commercial team.
- Managing all commercial and contractual matters.
- Driving commercial performance and profitability.
- Managing risk, change control and commercial governance.
- Leading negotiations with clients, subcontractors and key stakeholders.
- Ensuring robust cost control, forecasting and reporting.
- Supporting project delivery teams to achieve programme and financial objectives.
- Building strong relationships with both internal and external stakeholders.
- Ensuring compliance with contractual obligations and company procedures.
About You
We're looking for an experienced commercial leader who has successfully delivered major infrastructure or civil engineering projects. You will ideally have:
- Significant experience in a Senior Commercial Director, Commercial Director or Commercial Manager role.
- A proven track record of leading commercial teams on large-scale infrastructure, utilities or civil engineering projects.
- Strong knowledge of NEC forms of contract.
- Excellent commercial acumen with the ability to manage complex contractual issues.
- Outstanding leadership and stakeholder management skills.
- Experience working within a tier one contractor or major infrastructure environment.
- Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management or a related discipline.
