I'm working with a well-established multidisciplinary engineering and environmental consultancy looking to appoint a Principal Civil Engineer in Cheltenham. This role offers a senior technical and leadership position within a collaborative, forward-thinking business, providing opportunity to mentor junior engineers and support business growth. The Role
- As Principal Civil Engineer, you will be responsible for leading projects from inception through to completion, ensuring delivery to the highest technical and commercial standards.
- Managing a range of civil engineering projects from concept through to implementation.
- Supporting the day-to-day management of a team of engineers, including resource planning and timesheet approvals.
- Liaising with clients, stakeholders, local authorities and multidisciplinary project teams.
- Undertaking site visits and providing technical oversight.
- Supporting senior leadership with project finances, fee proposals and commercial management.
- Preparing Drainage Strategies and engineering reports to support planning applications.
- Producing and reviewing technical designs including:
- Highway designs
- Drainage designs
- External works packages
- Ground modelling
- S104, S278 and S38 submissions
- Managing the approval and negotiation process with relevant authorities.
- Contributing to business development activities and client relationship management.
- Mentoring and providing technical guidance to junior team members.
About You
- Proven experience delivering civil engineering projects within a consultancy environment.
- Strong technical knowledge of infrastructure design and drainage strategies.
- Experience preparing technical reports and detailed design packages.
- A solid understanding of S104, S278 and S38 agreements.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Previous experience mentoring or managing junior engineers.
- A proactive and commercial approach to project delivery and client development.
