We're working with a highly regarded, employee-owned specialist contractor looking for a Quantity Surveyor to join their Manchester team. This is a business delivering some seriously impressive projects across the UK, including major rail and transport infrastructure, bridges, stations, large-scale structural steelwork, reinforced concrete structures and complex engineering projects in live and highly constrained environments.
The role
You'll take commercial responsibility for projects from handover through to final account, working closely with project teams, subcontractors and clients.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Managing project budgets, costs and commercial performance
- Preparing valuations, variations, claims and financial reports
- Procuring and commercially managing subcontractors
- Managing contractual matters, negotiations and payment processes
- Attending site to assess progress and value works
- Maintaining accurate commercial records and risk registers
- Supporting estimating and tendering activity
- Providing commercial input to project teams throughout delivery
- Supporting and mentoring junior members of the commercial team
What we're looking for
- Project level or Senior level Quantity Surveying experience
- Main contractor or specialist subcontractor background
- Strong understanding of commercial and contractual processes
- Experience with valuations, variations, claims and cost reporting
- Exposure to infrastructure, structural steel, reinforced concrete, rail, M&E or other technically complex construction would be advantageous
- Degree/HNC/HND preferred, although strong industry experience will also be considered
