An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Senior Estimator to join a growing civil engineering and infrastructure contractor with an ambitious growth strategy and a strong pipeline of secured and upcoming work. Based in the North West, this role offers the opportunity to play a key part in securing major projects across the region.

Working closely with senior stakeholders and operational teams, you will lead the production of high-quality tender submissions and help shape the future growth of the business.

The Role

As a Senior Estimator, you will take ownership of the tendering process from initial enquiry through to submission, ensuring competitive, commercially sound, and technically robust bids are delivered on time and to the highest standard. You will work closely with operational teams, supply chain partners, and senior stakeholders to develop winning strategies and identify opportunities to strengthen future submissions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the preparation and delivery of competitive tender submissions
  • Manage the estimating process across your allocated portfolio of opportunities
  • Develop tender strategies aligned with business objectives and growth plans
  • Analyse project documentation, specifications, and contract requirements
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, subcontractors, and suppliers
  • Drive continuous improvement and innovation throughout the tendering process
  • Review project risks and opportunities to ensure commercially robust submissions
  • Collaborate with operational and commercial teams during bid preparation
  • Support and mentor junior members of the estimating team
  • Contribute to bid presentations and client meetings where required
  • Assist in developing best practice across the estimating function

About You

We are looking for a commercially aware and technically capable estimator who can lead from the front and thrive in a fast-paced bidding environment.

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Previous experience in a Senior Estimator or Estimator role within civil engineering, infrastructure, rail, or construction
  • Strong understanding of tendering and pre-construction processes
  • Ability to manage multiple tenders and competing deadlines
  • Excellent analytical and numerical skills with strong attention to detail
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management abilities
  • Experience building relationships with supply chain partners and clients
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
  • Ability to think strategically and contribute to business growth initiatives
  • Strong leadership and mentoring capabilities

Desirable

  • HNC/HND or degree qualification in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, or a related discipline
  • Previous experience within civil engineering, rail, infrastructure, or utilities sectors
  • Experience presenting to clients, senior stakeholders, and leadership teams
