I'm partnering with a highly regarded, multi-disciplinary consultancy that is seeking a Director of Transport Planning to join its growing Birmingham team. This is a senior leadership appointment driven by sustained growth within the Development Planning division.
Reporting directly to the Birmingham-based Discipline Lead, you will take on a strategic and influential role - providing technical direction, leading high-profile projects, developing talent, and helping to drive continued business growth across the region.
The Role:
- You’ll lead a diverse portfolio of development-led transport planning projects, including residential, commercial, education, retail, leisure, and renewable energy schemes.
- Alongside project delivery, you’ll play a key role in mentoring the team, shaping local strategy, and strengthening client relationships.
Key responsibilities include:
- Technical oversight and delivery of Transport Assessments, Statements, and Travel Plans
- Strategic project leadership across multi-sector developments
- Team leadership, mentoring, and capability development
- Supporting business development and work-winning activities
About You:
- Strong consultancy background in development-related transport planning
- Proven experience leading projects and managing key client relationships
- In-depth knowledge of the UK planning system
- Track record of mentoring or managing transport planning teams
- Commercially aware, with confidence in winning and growing work
