An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join a well-established infrastructure and utilities contractor delivering essential projects across the UK. Working closely with the Commercial Manager and operational teams, you will take ownership of the commercial and contractual management of projects from inception through to completion. This role offers the opportunity to play a key part in driving commercial performance, managing project costs, maximising profitability, and ensuring contractual compliance throughout the project lifecycle.
The successful candidate will be commercially astute, detail-oriented, and confident managing both financial and contractual aspects of multiple projects. As a Quantity Surveyor, you will be responsible for:
- Controlling project costs, managing subcontractor accounts, administering contracts, and identifying opportunities to improve commercial performance.
- Managing and monitoring project costs, including weekly profit and loss reporting.
- Reviewing contract documentation and providing commercial and contractual advice.
- Monitoring project progress and maintaining accurate cash flow forecasts.
- Producing and reviewing Cost Value Reconciliations (CVRs), commercial forecasts, and project finance reports.
- Managing subcontractor procurement, forecasting, and contractual agreements.
- Administering subcontract valuations, invoices, payments, and final accounts.
- Leading the management of change control, risk management, and value engineering processes.
- Tracking and managing project variations, compensation events, and contractual notices.
- Preparing and submitting interim valuations and client payment applications.
- Negotiating and agreeing final accounts with clients and subcontractors.
- Attending client, progress, commercial, and risk review meetings.
- Providing commercial and contractual support to operational delivery teams.
Requirements:
- Previous experience working as a Quantity Surveyor or Assistant Quantity Surveyor.
- Strong understanding of commercial and contractual management principles.
- Experience producing CVRs, forecasts, valuations, and final accounts.
- High level of commercial awareness and attention to detail.
- Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, Construction Management, or a related discipline.
- Previous experience within the utilities, infrastructure, civil engineering, or construction sectors.
