Based in the Basingstoke office, you'll work alongside an experienced team delivering transport planning solutions for residential, commercial, retail, leisure, education and mixed-use developments, while playing a key role in project delivery, client management and team development.
The Opportunity
This role offers the chance to lead a wide variety of development planning projects, taking responsibility for technical delivery, client relationships and commercial performance, while helping to shape the future growth of the business. Working closely with senior leadership and multidisciplinary project teams, you'll manage projects from initial feasibility through to planning approval and beyond.
Key Responsibilities
- Preparing and reviewing Transport Assessments, Transport Statements and Travel Plans
- Producing and reviewing Environmental Statement Transport Chapters
- Leading transport planning inputs for residential, commercial, retail, leisure and mixed-use developments
- Building, running and interpreting junction modelling using Junctions 10 and LinSig
- Providing technical advice relating to highway design, active travel and sustainable transport solutions
- Managing projects, programmes and budgets to ensure successful delivery
- Coordinating with planners, engineers, architects and environmental consultants on multidisciplinary schemes
- Representing clients in meetings and negotiations with Highway Authorities and other stakeholders
- Preparing fee proposals and supporting business development initiatives
- Building and maintaining strong client relationships
- Mentoring and developing Graduate, Assistant and Consultant-level team members
About You
We're keen to speak with candidates who can demonstrate:
- Approximately 3-8 years' experience within transport planning consultancy or local authority development planning environments
- Strong understanding of development-led transport planning principles
- Experience preparing and reviewing Transport Assessments, Travel Plans and Environmental Statement Chapters
- Proficiency in Junctions 10 and LinSig software
- Knowledge of Manual for Streets, DMRB, LTN 1/20, Active Travel England guidance and wider transport planning policy
- Experience managing projects and coordinating multidisciplinary teams
- Confidence engaging with clients, developers, local authorities and other stakeholders
- Strong technical report writing and presentation skills
- Experience preparing fee proposals and managing project budgets
- Membership of TPS, CIHT or CILT, or progression towards professional accreditation
