A highly regarded and fast-growing property consultancy is seeking an Associate Director - Director-level Building Surveyor to play a key role in the continued growth of its London office. This is a senior appointment for an ambitious surveyor who wants influence, autonomy, and a genuine voice in how a business develops. The practice delivers a full range of building surveying and Party Wall services across high-quality residential and commercial property, and has built a strong reputation for technical excellence, pragmatic advice, and long-term client relationships.
The Role
This position goes well beyond day-to-day surveying. You will take ownership of major client relationships, oversee complex instructions, and help shape the strategic direction of the building surveying offering. While the role remains hands-on, there is a strong emphasis on leadership, mentoring, and business development. You'll be trusted to run your own workload, support junior surveyors, and contribute to the growth and profile of the consultancy in the London market.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the delivery of general building surveying services across residential and commercial property
- Oversee and manage complex instructions from inception through to completion
- Act as lead surveyor on Party Wall matters under the Party Wall etc. Act 1996
- Provide expert advice on dilapidations, defect analysis, and refurbishment projects
- Fulfil the role of Contract Administrator on larger or more complex schemes
- Develop and maintain key client relationships, acting as a trusted advisor
- Support, mentor, and technically oversee junior members of the team
- Contribute to business development, fee generation, and strategic growth initiatives
About you:
- MRICS Chartered Building Surveyor
- Operating at Associate or Director level, or ready to step up
- Strong track record in general building surveying within a consultancy environment
- Proven Party Wall experience essential
- Confident managing clients, fees, and multiple instructions simultaneously
- Commercially astute with a collaborative leadership style
- Comfortable contributing to business development and team growth
