Aldwark Manor Estate is a privately owned hotel with golf nestled in a picturesque village between York and Harrogate. Set in 200 acres of beautiful countryside, this luxury hotel provides a complete escape for both business and leisure guests and is a popular venue for weddings. In recent years, the hotel has undergone significant investment and renovation, transforming the bedrooms, restaurant, residents’ lounge, sports bar and all public areas to deliver a refined and contemporary guest experience. December marked the completion and opening of the new Salus Spa facilities, further enhancing the estate’s luxury leisure offering. The next phase of development will see the addition of new bedrooms, expanded event spaces and additional treatment rooms, all scheduled to open later this year.

Main purpose of the role: To ensure that the guests and customers are welcomed to the hotel and support with their questions and queries. To check guests into their rooms and be a friendly face throughout the whole customer journey. Reception acts as the first point of contact between guests and the organisation. They are tasked with answering guest inquiries, directing phone calls, coordinating travel plans, and more. They must always uphold company culture while making guests feel welcomed and valued.

Main duties include:

  • Supports the smooth running of the front office department, where all aspects of the guest journey and experience are delivered to the highest level
  • Takes responsibility for the duties and tasks assigned to the role, ensuring that all work is carried out in a timely and professional manner
  • Collaborates with their immediate report, ensuring that costs and inventory are controlled, that productivity and performance levels are attained
  • Ensures adherence and compliance to all legislation where due diligence requirements and best practice activities are planned, delivered, and documented for internal and external audit, performing follow-up as required
  • Greet guests and visitors warmly and make them feel welcome and attended to
  • Receive and redirect mail, phone calls, packages, etc.
  • Answer phones and take messages from potential guests in a timely and respectful manner
  • Show round the areas of the hotel and share a bit of history of the hotel with the guests
  • Offer restaurant and activity recommendations and assist guests in arranging transportation and excursions
  • Ensure that guest spaces and lobby are clean and tidy at all times
  • Act as a liaison between guests and any department necessary including the kitchen, housekeeping, etc.
  • Taking luggage to storage and/or to bedrooms
  • Book dinner times
  • Trace and ensure guest requests are completed
  • Maintain inventory of supplies and order new stock as needed
  • Guest care and service including guest check-in and check-out
  • Enquiry handling
  • Guest safety
  • Audit and simple accounting/report production duties
