About the Role: We are seeking an inspiring, passionate, and forward-thinking SENDCo to join our ambitious and supportive team. This role is central to the Special Education Needs (SEN) provision to ensure this is managed effectively and efficiently across the academy. The SENDCo is to take responsibility for the day-to-day operation of the policy and department with the aim of raising SEN student attainment and attendance. It is expected that all legal and statutory requirements are met for students with SEN. Working closely with senior leaders, you will provide strategic direction, expert guidance, and operational oversight across key areas.
Person Specification:
- Good standard of Education
- National Award for SENCO’s or equivalent (NASENCo) or willingness to work towards this.
- Experience of Special Education Needs within secondary education
- Experience identifying, monitoring and providing effective support for students with SEN
- Understanding of the 11-18 educational contexts, national priorities and standards
- Good working knowledge of relevant legislation, particularly the SEN Code of Practice
- Ability to train staff in aspects of SEN
