This exciting opportunity has arisen following the successful appointment of Alexia Walker, who has been involved with the programme from the outset and who has been instrumental in establishing and growing the provision to the current date, to be the Coach for the Sussex Cricket’s Women team. BACA has been recognised by "The Cricketer "magazine for the past five consecutive years as being in the top 100 cricket schools in the country, one of only a small number of state schools to achieve that accolade. Through this period, BACA has had a partnership with Sussex Cricket who recognise it as its state school of choice. All of this is enhanced by BACA’s modern buildings and facilities in both the main school and the Sir Rod Aldridge Cricket Centre (SRACC) which also houses state of the art cricket facilities. The cricket program consists of a Junior Cricket Pathway (JCP) for students in years 7 – 11 (aged 11 to 16) and the Aldridge Cricket Academy (ACA) for students in years 12 – 13 (sixth form aged 16 to 18). Currently there are 68 students across these programs who receive allocated time within the school day for individualised cricket and strength and conditioning training, support in areas such as nutrition, mental health in sport and careers, competitive fixtures, opportunities to play indoors and outdoors and overseas tours. This solid foundation provides the new Director of Cricket an exciting opportunity to build on the success of the last 11 years. By continuing to deliver and grow the excellent provision already in place for all cricket students, alongside potential developments that are likely to include the opportunities for girls’ cricket and supporting the development of the partnership with the University of Brighton as they develop their own cricket program from September 2025.
