Job Description

Overall, Purpose of the Role: The Alert Room Supervisor will receive students that are both internally suspended and sent out of lessons day to day. The post holder will run a calm and orderly environment that supports the students to complete work set and prepare for the return to the classroom. They will insist on high standards of behaviour and support the students to regulate and manage their behaviour and follow the expectations of learning. They will liaise with Teachers, Behaviour Leads, Parents, and the Assistant Principal for Behaviour and Culture.

Key Duties:

  • Effectively supervise students that are sent daily to the Alert Room.
  • Support the smooth running of the Alert Room when needed for pupils who are unable to access lessons on a day-to-day basis, promoting high expectations, motivation, and participation.
  • Effectively supervise students that are internally suspended, ensuring that they are completing work set, and providing work where there are any gaps.
  • Communicate in advance with Teachers for the students that are suspended so that appropriate work is provided in a timely way.
  • Maintain up to date and accurate records, including register of students that attend the Alert Room, and for those internally suspended.
  • Ensure the consistent implementation of the school behaviour policy and protocols.
  • To note students that have been alerted more than once and ensure that the Behaviour Lead is informed.
  • Ensure that the space is a positive learning environment where students can work supervised and in silence during their time in the space.
  • Develop bank of learning packages to support students in Alert Room - In conjunction with the AP Student Behaviour and Culture.
  • Deliver students to detention at the end of the day.
  • Support staff to hold successful repair conversations at the end of the day.
  • Ensure that students complete a reflection form when they attend, take this to the repair conversation at the end of the day for the Teacher. Inform the Behaviour Lead if this is not completed properly after direction and redirection has been given.
