We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Junior Project Manager to assist in all aspects of running mechanical contracts, with a preferred knowledge of air conditioning and ventilation systems. The role involves supporting project planning, coordination, procurement, site operations, and client communications to ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the required quality and safety standards. A valid driving licence (over 21) is required for car insurance purposes and site visits.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in developing and maintaining project plans, schedules, and progress trackers.
  • Monitor subcontractors and supplier performance, update risk logs, and report status to stakeholders.
  • Support preparation of method statements, risk assessments, and quality control procedures.
  • Provide support related to air conditioning and ventilation installations, commissioning, and handovers.
  • Assist in reviewing design drawings, specifications, and technical submittals for compliance with project requirements.
  • Coordinate with design teams, procurement, and site teams to resolve technical issues.
  • Help prepare and manage cost forecasts, budgets, and change control documentation.
  • Track procurement timelines, assist with ordering, delivery coordination, and receiving materials.
  • Maintain thorough documentation, including daily logs, QA/QC records, and close-out packets.
  • Attend site meetings, take accurate meeting minutes, and follow up on actions.
  • Assist in implementing and maintaining safety practices on site; ensure compliance with relevant regulations.
  • Facilitate smooth on-site operations, including logistics, access, and coordination with trades.
  • Act as a point of contact for project stakeholders as directed, ensuring clear and timely communication.
  • Prepare regular progress reports and updates for clients and internal teams.
  • Seek opportunities to learn about best practices in mechanical contracting, project controls, and lifecycle management.
  • Support mentors and senior staff with ad-hoc tasks to develop construction management skills.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Degree or diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Building Services, Construction Management, or a related field (or equivalent hands-on experience in mechanical contracts).
  • 0–2 years in construction/project management, preferably within mechanical services, building services, or HVAC sectors.
  • Basic understanding of air conditioning and ventilation systems, equipment, controls, and commissioning processes.
  • Familiarity with drawings (M&E, mechanical drawings), specifications, and standard industry methods.
  • Full UK/EEA driving licence (or applicable regional licence) and willingness to drive to sites as needed.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
  • Good written and verbal communication, with the ability to liaise with clients, subcontractors, and internal teams.
  • Proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and project management tools; familiarity with basic project software (e.g., MS Project, Primavera, or equivalent) is a plus.
  • Basic financial acumen for cost tracking and budgeting.
  • Proactive, detail-oriented, and collaborative.
  • Able to work in a dynamic environment and adapt to changing priorities.
  • Self-motivated with a strong commitment to safety and quality.
