What you’ll do
An exciting opportunity has arisen for the position of Trainee Payroll Assistant within our National Payroll team on a 12-month contract. This role is crucial in ensuring the efficient and accurate management of payroll processes while maintaining compliance with internal and external regulations. The Trainee Payroll Assistant will support the payroll department by executing daily, monthly and annual payroll tasks, including but not limited to:
- Answering payroll-related queries from employees and the business
- New Starter and Leaver processing
- Statutory payment processing
- Absence processing
- Attachment of earnings orders processing
- Auto enrolment and pension contribution changes
- Creating and submitting the salaries payment file via BACS
- Preparing the monthly payroll journal
- Maintaining AIS data
- Processing tax year end documentation
- Ensuring national and international deadlines are complied with for own area of responsibility
- Ensuring the security of documentation and electronic data in own area of responsibility

- Experience in end to end payroll processing
- High attention to detail
- Driven with a strong work ethic
- Able to work under pressure, multitask and prioritise workload to meet business-critical deadlines
- Works in a structured, methodical manner
- Takes personal responsibility for resolving queries and issues
- Strong written and verbal communication skills

- CIPP/CIPD Payroll / Pension Qualifications (Desirable)
- Knowledge of ResourceLink Payroll System (Desirable)
- Experience of Workday HR (Desirable)
