National Buying Manager – Cooking Sauces and Condiments

Overview: Reporting to a Buying Director and leading a team of Buying Assistants, the successful candidate will help to drive sales, profitability and category management and NPD working with national and international suppliers. The candidate will have a key role in own label development and managing the end-to-end process from concept to delivery across all products within their remit. They will have a deep understanding of the category and will negotiate and foster relationships with suppliers, responsible for delivering on commercial targets whilst keeping value and quality at the heart of what they do. The candidate will have the opportunity to have clear and tangible impact on their category now and into the future whilst developing the team around them.
Your New Role
- People management: manage and foster the development of Assistant Buyers
- Supplier Management: manage the day-to-day supply partner relationships
- Category Management: have a detailed understanding of the product range both internally & externally
- Produce timely and accurate business forecasts, including financial forecasts to enable targets to be met
- Presenting: prepare and deliver presentations utilizing data from multiple sources concisely
- Decision Making: be capable of making quick decisions based on complex information
- Negotiation: plan, prepare and carry out negotiation to secure exciting products at the best price
- Range management: aid the Buying Director on existing and future ranges through utilizing several data
About You
- Strong previous experience in a Buying role
- Effective leadership, motivation and people management skills
- Strong attention to detail
- Being comfortable having challenging conversations with supply partners
- A strong level of resilience and the ability to operate under pressure
- Intellectually curious and takes initiative
- Self-starter must be productive with minimal direction in a fast-paced environment
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint
- Ambient grocery buying experience
- Ability to work with cross functional departments to ensure food safety as a priority
- Influential and natural leader in an environment with a large supplier base
What you’ll get in return
- 13-16 month Fixed Term Contract
- Salaries up to £95,655.
- Monday to Friday, 8:00am to 5pm, with the opportunity of remote working up to 2 days per week
