Overview

Aldi UK is recruiting for a Buying Manager in Atherstone, England. You will help manage the buying vision, secure exciting products at the best price, and lead a team to drive sales, profitability and innovation through effective leadership and analytical skills. Reporting to a Buying Director, you will help the business stay ahead of customer needs and support rapid decision-making in a fast-paced retail environment. There are multiple categories recruiting, including Beverages, Chilled, Fruit and Vegetables, Freezer, Ambient and Bakery.

Your New Role

  • People management: manage and foster the development of Buying Assistants
  • Supplier management: manage day-to-day supply partner relationships
  • Production development: understand the product range both internally and externally
  • Quality: ensure our quality standards are met consistently in line with our Quality Attribute

  • Produce timely and accurate business forecasts, including financial forecasts to enable targets to be met
  • Presenting: prepare and deliver presentations utilizing data from multiple sources concisely
  • Decision making: make quick decisions based on complex information
  • Negotiation: plan, prepare and carry out negotiation to secure exciting products at the best price
  • Range management: assist the Buying Director on existing and future ranges using multiple data sources

About You

  • Previous Buying experience in the Food/Grocery sector
  • Previous management and leadership experience
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint
  • Comfort in having challenging conversations with supply partners
  • Resilience and ability to operate under pressure
  • Intellectually curious and takes initiative
  • Self-starter who can be productive with minimal direction in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to work with cross-functional departments to ensure food safety as a priority
  • Influential and natural leader in an environment with a large supplier base
