An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Produce and Plants & Flowers Buying Team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the end to end buying cycle; from putting together tender documents, to preparing samples and reviewing market data to reporting on your category’s performance.

You’ll be working collaboratively with business partners and with our internal Forecasting and Marketing Teams to effectively and seamlessly get a product from an idea, to on the shelves in our stores as efficiently as possible.

The successful candidate must have a strong track record of managing a supply base along with being able to juggle multiple tasks prioritising where needs be.

Your New Role

• Fully responsible for managing Suppliers on every operational aspect

• Manage the efficient and accurate flow of communication both internally and externally

• Actively manage their area of responsibility through driving innovation and change

• Understand complex POS/financial data and be able to analyse this on Excel

• Display ownership for the category, namely, availability, supplier management, new product launch deadlines, innovation, idea generation

• Ensures that all manual and computerised bulletin procedures and files are accurate and up to date at all times, including CBIS, SAP and Point of Sale information

• Managing all due diligence, advertising and related issues for new products/specials from the point of order placement to bulletin issue

• Ensures that a polite and professional manner is maintained in all internal / external communications

About You

Essential:

  • Microsoft skills required (excel, word, PowerPoint)
  • Verbal and written communication skills
  • Good ability to build & maintain relationships
  • Ability to work in a fast paced and cross functional environment
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Excellent visual design sense regarding clear and accurate presentation of data
  • Desirable:
  • Previous experience in a Buying role
  • Experience of working in a highly commercial environment (e.g. Retail, FMCG)
  • Produce Experience
