Senior Data Engineering Manager in London

The Data Delivery team sits within the Group‑wide Change function and plays a critical role in shaping and delivering Aldermore’s data strategy. As Senior Data Engineering Manager, you’ll lead the technical delivery of major data programmes that sit right at the heart of the Group’s strategic change.

This is a broad, influential role with real ownership. You’ll provide hands‑on engineering leadership across the data estate, with particular accountability for the Ab Initio Data Platform and cloud‑based data delivery. You’ll work closely with data architects, engineers, business analysts, delivery leads and wider technology teams to keep delivery moving, remove blockers and maintain momentum.

You’ll be joining at an exciting point - with a modern data foundation in place, the focus is firmly on building, evolving and making the most of what’s now possible. You’ll be working on meaningful, strategic change in a regulated banking environment where data quality, resilience and governance genuinely matter, and where your technical leadership will have clear, visible impact.

What will your day look like?

• Leading the technical delivery of strategic data change initiatives aligned to the Group Data Strategy
• Providing engineering leadership across the Ab Initio Data Platform, including runtime, development, upgrades and support
• Coordinating and sequencing technical activity across cloud, infrastructure, networking and security teams
• Setting and upholding engineering standards across data application design, build quality and release
• Reviewing designs and code, providing challenge, guidance and hands‑on support when needed
• Working closely with delivery, architecture and change colleagues to keep work unblocked and moving at pace
• Leading internal engineers and overseeing external delivery partners
• Managing delivery risk, controls and governance

What do we expect from you?

• Significant experience in a similar role, providing senior technical leadership in data engineering delivery
• Strong hands‑on experience with Ab Initio, including infrastructure and ETL
• An expert in SQL, with confidence reviewing code in python too
• Practical experience delivering data solutions in AWS and Azure
• A collaborative and pragmatic leadership style, working across multi-disciplinary teams
