About the Opportunity
This is an exciting opportunity to sit at the heart of complex, high‑value Commercial Real Estate transactions. As a CRE Business Development Specialist, you’ll support deals from initial enquiry right through to completion, giving you exposure to residential, commercial and development lending. You’ll work closely with senior leaders, lending managers and our Credit teams, helping SMEs and property investors access the funding they need to grow. Responsibilities
- Managing a portfolio of Commercial Real Estate cases on our internal systems, ensuring accurate data input and case management from initial enquiry through to legal completion.
- Supporting lending managers and CRE senior leaders in the execution of residential and commercial term loans, development finance and specialist lending transactions.
- Coordinating the end‑to‑end post‑approval journey: preparing facility letters, obtaining and instructing valuations, legal and IMS reports, maintaining conditions precedent (CP) checklists and tracking offer acceptances.
- Ensuring all CPs set out in offer letters are satisfied in a timely way so cases can move smoothly to completion.
- Working closely with Credit Delivery and CRE Operations to prepare completions checklists, provide clear payout instructions and support a smooth handover to Credit Stewardship.
- Maintaining and updating standard operating procedures (SOPs) for key CRE processes and setting up borrower folders, saving all key information for ongoing stewardship.
- Managing suspense accounts, including the allocation and amendment of fees as required.
- Building strong internal and external relationships – including with colleagues, brokers, valuers and solicitors – to keep transactions moving and deliver a great customer experience.
Requirements
- Some experience or exposure within Commercial Real Estate lending or a closely related area, with an interest in residential, commercial and development finance.
- An understanding of property‑related due diligence – for example legal and security requirements, valuation considerations and banking processes – or the ability to develop this quickly.
- Strong attention to detail and comfort working in a high‑volume, fast‑paced environment, maintaining accuracy of data and documentation throughout the deal lifecycle.
- A collaborative, team‑focused approach and the ability to build effective working relationships with colleagues and external partners.
- Clear and confident communication skills, both verbally and in writing.
- A proactive mindset, with the curiosity and drive to keep building your knowledge of the CRE market, sectors and regulatory environment.
