Octane Capital – why we exist

Let us tell you a bit about us

You could say we’re an old hand in this market. Our roots in specialist lending date back to 2009 and our team have lent over £4 billion across 3,000 loans. Since then we’ve seen every kind of deal: big, small, complex, and vanilla. We’ve assembled one of the market’s most experienced teams to ensure we have the best chance of helping your clients.

Let us tell you a bit about the opportunity

This is an exciting opportunity to join Octane Capital, a market‑leading specialist property lender, as a Business Development Manager. Since launching in 2017, Octane Capital has built a strong reputation for service excellence and innovation within short‑term property lending, supporting brokers and customers across the UK.

In this role, you’ll play a key part in growing Octane Capital’s Bridging, Refurbishment and Developer Exit lending by building trusted, long‑term relationships with brokers. Rather than being desk‑bound, you’ll have the autonomy to manage a defined sales region, spend time in the field, and work directly with introducers to structure complex property finance transactions.

You’ll be part of a high‑performing, collaborative sales team and work closely with senior stakeholders, including the Managing Director (Sales), in a fast‑paced and entrepreneurial environment where your impact will be visible and valued.

What will your day look like?

  • Managing and developing relationships with a portfolio of broker partners within your assigned region
  • Working directly with introducers to assess and structure complex lending cases in line with credit policy
  • Planning and maintaining a strategic diary of broker meetings and appointments
  • Identifying and developing new sources of business from inbound enquiries, broker registrations, existing relationships, and market activity
  • Maximising bridging and property finance opportunities by understanding broker needs and Octane Capital’s competitive strengths
  • Achieving agreed quarterly and annual lending targets across relevant lending divisions
  • Attending and presenting at industry events, exhibitions, seminars, and workshops as required
  • Recording broker interactions and activity accurately on the CRM system and providing progress updates as needed

What do we expect from you?

  • Experience working as a Business Development Manager within financial services, ideally within property‑related lending such as bridging, buy‑to‑let, development, or commercial finance
  • Extensive experience in a business development or relationship‑management role
  • Strong communication skills, with confidence engaging brokers and stakeholders both verbally and in writing
  • The ability to build credible, trust‑based relationships and influence at a senior level
  • A proactive, self‑motivated approach with a strong commitment to delivering excellent service
  • Confidence presenting to both small and larger audiences
  • High professional integrity and alignment with Octane Capital’s values of teamwork, service, integrity, and tenacity

What can you expect from us?

  • A friendly and flexible culture, the same as how we work with our customers
  • A growing organisation that means there’s lots of opportunities to progress
  • A drive for continuous improvement, which you will be empowered to get behind from day one
  • And of course, you will be rewarded competitively, with a good range of core benefits and bonus potential

The Company

We champion equality by supporting the exceptions to the rule and getting finance to where it’s needed.

We lend the money people save with us, to people who want to get on in life; build businesses and create employment, buy property for people to live and work in, and purchase vehicles to move families and goods around.

Behaviour Framework

Our behavioural framework underpins our purpose and strategic drivers, as it outlines the behaviours we need to demonstrate in order to succeed. Where our strategic drivers (Stay Ahead Propositions, Relationships That Last and Progressive Platform) outline what we need to do to succeed, our behaviours guide us in how. In your second interview, we’ll ask you to talk through some examples where you’ve demonstrated these behaviours in your previous roles.

The Benefits

As you would expect, we offer a competitive basic salary and reward package, and you’ll also benefit from our commitment to investing in your professional development throughout your journey with us.
