This is a unique opportunity to join the wider Group Compliance team as the dedicated Regulatory Compliance and Financial Crime partner for Octane Capital.

Working closely with key stakeholders across the business, you'll provide practical advice, independent oversight and constructive challenge to support sustainable growth while ensuring regulatory and financial crime risks are effectively managed.

This is a highly visible, hands‑on role where you'll gain a deep understanding of how the business operates, helping to translate regulatory requirements and Group standards into pragmatic, commercially focused solutions that support both customer and business outcomes.

What will your day look like?

As the dedicated Compliance Lead for Octane Capital, you'll provide expert advice, oversight and challenge across Regulatory Compliance and Financial Crime, helping the business grow safely and responsibly.

You’ll partner closely with senior leaders and business teams, supporting new products, business initiatives and regulatory change, while ensuring customer outcomes and regulatory requirements remain at the forefront of decision-making.

Key responsibilities include

  • Acting as the trusted second‑line Compliance advisor to Octane, providing practical guidance, independent challenge and risk‑based oversight.
  • Identifying and assessing regulatory and financial crime risks across bridging, buy‑to‑let and future regulated lending propositions.
  • Delivering Compliance monitoring, file reviews and thematic assessments to ensure risks are effectively managed and controls remain robust.
  • Supporting regulatory change by interpreting new requirements, assessing business impact and driving effective implementation.
  • Providing oversight of Financial Crime risks, including AML, sanctions, fraud and customer due diligence arrangements.
  • Producing clear risk reporting, supporting governance forums and contributing to Board, Audit and regulatory reviews.
  • Working closely with Aldermore Group Compliance, Risk, Legal and Financial Crime teams to ensure Octane remains aligned to Group standards and regulatory expectations.
  • Promoting a strong risk and compliance culture through training, insight sharing and stakeholder engagement across the business.

You’ll collaborate with stakeholders across Octane, Aldermore Group and external partners, playing a key role in supporting the next phase of Octane's growth.

What do we expect from you?

We're looking for an experienced Compliance professional with strong Regulatory Compliance and Financial Crime expertise gained within financial services.

You’ll bring

  • Experience in a second‑line Compliance and/or Financial Crime role.
  • Strong knowledge of FCA regulation, AML, sanctions, fraud and broader financial crime risks.
  • Experience delivering compliance monitoring, assurance reviews and risk assessments.
  • The ability to provide practical advice, constructive challenge and independent oversight.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • A hands‑on, pragmatic approach with a focus on delivering positive business and customer outcomes.

Ideally, you’ll also have

  • Experience within bridging finance, buy‑to‑let, mortgages, specialist property lending or secured lending.
  • Knowledge of both regulated and unregulated lending environments.
  • A relevant qualification such as ICA, ACAMS or similar.
