The Vacancy

We're looking for an experienced Credit Risk Manager to join Aldermore's Property and Business Finance Division. Reporting to the Head of Credit - CRE, you'll be responsible for assessing, structuring and sanctioning new lending opportunities, alongside reviewing in-life customer requests and annual reviews. You'll play a key role in ensuring lending decisions align with the Bank's risk appetite, credit policy and regulatory requirements, with a particular focus on Property Development and Commercial Real Estate transactions. This is an excellent opportunity for a credit professional with strong property lending expertise who is looking to further develop their career within a specialist lender that empowers colleagues to make informed, balanced and commercial lending decisions.

What will your day look like?

  • Assess and sanction new Commercial Real Estate lending opportunities within your delegated authority.
  • Review and approve annual reviews and ad hoc in-life customer requests.
  • Structure complex lending transactions while balancing commercial opportunities against risk considerations.
  • Work closely with Relationship Directors and Business Development colleagues to support sustainable business growth.
  • Act as a trusted advisor to colleagues across the Property and Business Finance Division.
  • Provide coaching, mentoring and guidance to fellow Credit Managers and wider teams.
  • Contribute to the development and continuous improvement of lending policies, standards and procedures.
  • Participate in Credit Forums and Credit Committees, supporting high-quality lending decisions.
  • Support the ongoing development of effective credit risk controls and risk management practices.

What do we expect from you?

  • Significant experience within a Credit Risk, Credit Sanctioning or Property Finance environment.
  • Strong knowledge of Commercial Real Estate and Property Development lending.
  • Experience operating with an individual lending mandate.
  • A proven ability to structure and approve complex lending transactions.
  • Sound commercial judgement and a strong understanding of risk management principles.
  • The ability to influence and challenge stakeholders constructively.
  • Strong coaching and mentoring capabilities.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • A collaborative approach and a desire to contribute to the success of the wider team.

It would also be beneficial if you have experience of:

  • Trading businesses, particularly within the Care Home or Hotel sectors.
  • Syndicated or club deal structures.
  • Driving continuous improvement initiatives within a credit environment.

What can you expect from us?

At Aldermore, you'll be part of a business where specialist expertise is valued, and where colleagues are empowered to make a real difference.

In return, you'll benefit from:

  • Competitive salary and benefits package.
  • Hybrid working, with the flexibility to work from our London, Reading, Manchester or Cardiff office locations.
  • Generous holiday entitlement.
  • Pension scheme.
  • Private medical insurance.
  • Career development and progression opportunities.
  • A collaborative and inclusive culture.
  • The opportunity to work on complex and interesting lending transactions within a growing specialist bank.

We're Aldermore, the award-winning bank, trusted and highly rated by over a quarter of a million customers for more than a decade. With our range of specialist mortgages, savings accounts and business finance solutions, we're backing more people to go for it.

We thrive by saying 'yes' to our customers. We respect the ingenuity of entrepreneurs and their start-ups; we give first-timers a leg-up onto the property ladder; we open up the lending market to many; and thousands of customers choose MotoNovo Finance every week to buy their next car, van or motorbike.

Whatever your background, if you're looking to make an impact within a bank that's built on expertise, ambition and helping customers achieve more, we'd love to hear from you.

The Company

We champion equality by supporting the exceptions to the rule and getting finance to where it's needed.

We lend the money people save with us, to people who want to get on in life; build businesses and create employment, buy property for people to live and work in, and purchase vehicles to move families and goods around.

Behaviour Framework

Our behavioural framework underpins our purpose and strategic drivers, as it outlines the behaviours we need to demonstrate in order to succeed. Where our strategic drivers (Stay Ahead Propositions, Relationships That Last and Progressive Platform) outline what we need to do to succeed, our behaviours guide us in how. In your second interview, we'll ask you to talk through some examples where you've demonstrated these behaviours in your previous roles.

The Benefits
