Our in-house construction team, Alderley Partnerships, is dedicated to the design, planning, and execution of innovative construction projects across the UK.
We are currently seeking two skilled and experienced Senior Design Managers to join our dynamic team and lead the technical and design aspects of our large-scale construction projects.
PLEASE NOTE: We are only accepting applicants who live within the UK, and are able to work full-time 5 days a week at the regional Warrington office and nearby developments. Due to the nature of this role, applications outside of the UK will be dismissed.
About the Role:
As a Senior Design Manager, you will play a critical role in the successful delivery of high-profile, complex developments. You will be responsible for overseeing the design management process from inception through to project completion, ensuring the project’s technical requirements and client expectations are met. Working closely with our construction and project teams, you will take the lead on design coordination, interface with consultants, and collaborate with external stakeholders to deliver outstanding developments.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design Coordination: Lead the management and coordination of all design-related activities, ensuring compliance with client specifications and design regulations.
- Technical Oversight: Provide technical leadership and guidance to ensure design solutions are innovative, practical, and aligned with project objectives.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Work closely with clients, consultants, subcontractors, and external partners to ensure that all design elements meet the required standards, timelines, and budgets.
- Project Delivery: Ensure all design milestones are achieved on time and within budget while maintaining high standards of quality and safety throughout the project lifecycle.
- Documentation & Reporting: Manage design documentation, ensuring accuracy and compliance with regulatory requirements. Provide regular reports on design progress to senior leadership and project stakeholders.
- Value Engineering: Identify and implement value engineering opportunities to optimise the design without compromising on quality or performance.
- Team Leadership: Mentor and support junior design staff, fostering a collaborative and professional environment.
What You’ll Need:
- Experience: Minimum of 7 years of experience in design management within the construction sector, with a proven track record of successfully managing large-scale residential or commercial projects.
- Leadership Skills: Strong leadership and people management abilities with the capability to motivate and guide teams through challenging project phases.
- Technical Expertise: Deep understanding of UK building regulations, design processes, and industry standards, particularly in residential and mixed-use developments.
- Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to liaise effectively with clients, consultants, and internal teams.
- Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a proactive approach to overcoming design challenges and project constraints.
- Attention to Detail: A meticulous eye for detail, ensuring that all design elements are fully coordinated and align with project goals.
- Software Proficiency: Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, and other design software, along with strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
