Join our dedicated and supportive team at Alderley Edge Primary School. We are seeking a caring, enthusiastic and committed Learning Support Assistant to join our successful and forward‑thinking primary school. This is a fixed‑term, full‑time position starting on 1st September 2026. Applications for part‑time working will also be considered.

Responsibilities

  • Providing academic and pastoral support to pupils on an individual basis
  • Supporting inclusion and engagement in the classroom
  • Working closely with class teachers and the wider school team
  • Helping children to develop confidence, independence and positive learning behaviours
  • Supporting children in their social engagement and play

Qualifications and skills

  • Has experience supporting children with SEND and a good understanding of a range of additional needs
  • Is patient, nurturing and adaptable
  • Is able to use their initiative and respond positively to the individual needs of children
  • Has a strong understanding of child development and knows how to engage and motivate children in their learning
  • Can build positive relationships with children, staff and families
  • Is committed to helping every child achieve their potential

Alderley Edge Primary School offers excellent opportunities for peer learning and ongoing professional growth. Working hours: 8:15 am – 3:15 pm, term time only. There may also be opportunities for additional paid work before and after school. We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. All appointments are subject to rigorous safeguarding procedures, including an enhanced DBS check and satisfactory references.
