The Youth Worker is an integral member of the Play Service and will work closely with the Play Service Manager and Deputy Health Play Specialist Manager.
The Youth Worker will deliver professional youth work supporting the Trust\’s adolescent strategy, working with colleagues to develop services for adolescents.
Responsibilities include:
- Encouraging and developing a peer support network for teenagers.
- Developing and running a range of recreational activities, both online and face-to-face, for young people aged 11-21 to develop cognitive, social, and emotional skills.
- Participating in a multidisciplinary team to contribute to the care and understanding of young people, their families, and carers.
- Ensuring the clinic environment is young person-friendly and meets their needs.
- Creating and maintaining relationships with patients and their families, offering advice and support.
- Accompanying patients to other hospital areas for treatment.
- Supervising and encouraging attendance at transition clinics and early communication if unable to attend.
- Using assessments to establish the needs of young patients and working with the healthcare team to support them.
- Providing and leading recreational activities for young people at Alder Hey Children\’s Hospital.
