Based in the Northern Home Counties, the business designs, manufactures and sources a comprehensive product range of over 10,000 SKUs, serving residential, trade and commercial environments. Alongside a successful and established B2C operation, the company is continuing to invest in the growth of its offline B2B commercial channel, with a clear focus on long-term, sustainable market expansion across the UK.

About the Role

This is a newly created opportunity for a commercially driven National Business Development Manager to play a key role in accelerating B2B growth nationwide. The position is a hands-on, external sales role, focused on winning new business, developing strategic customer relationships and expanding market presence across Projects, Managed Accounts and B2B Trade. The emphasis is on personal sales delivery, national account development and market expansion, working closely with internal teams to support proposition development and ensure a consistently high customer experience. The successful candidate will act as a senior commercial ambassador for the business, representing the brand nationally and building long-term, value-driven partnerships.

Key Responsibilities

  • Business Development & Sales Delivery
    • Identify, target and secure new B2B customers across projects, managed accounts and trade channels
    • Develop and manage a strong national pipeline of opportunities, owning sales activity from initial engagement through to conversion
    • Deliver agreed revenue and margin targets through disciplined, value-led selling
    • Build and maintain long-term, senior-level relationships with key decision-makers and influencers
  • Market & Growth Development
    • Identify new sectors, opportunities and routes to market within the commercial lighting space
    • Support the ongoing development of the B2B proposition, including product positioning, pricing and routes to market
    • Provide regular market insight, customer feedback and competitor intelligence to inform wider commercial strategy
  • Customer & Proposition Development
    • Act as a trusted commercial partner to customers, understanding requirements and aligning solutions accordingly
    • Work closely with internal teams to ensure a high-quality, consistent customer journey
    • Contribute to the evolution of the B2B Trade proposition, including input into customer experience and digital touchpoints where appropriate
  • Sales Operations & Reporting
    • Maintain accurate and up-to-date CRM records (Salesforce), ensuring clear visibility of pipeline, forecasting and opportunity progression
    • Report regularly on sales performance, pipeline development and market activity
    • Operate with strong commercial discipline around pricing, margin management and deal structure
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration
    • Work closely with Marketing on sales tools, campaigns and customer-facing materials
    • Collaborate with Supply Chain and Operations to align customer demand with stock availability, lead times and delivery performance
    • Engage with Product and Category teams to support range development and optimisation

Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years' experience selling commercial lighting products within a B2B environment
  • Strong industry knowledge with an established national network of contacts
  • Proven track record of new business development and account growth across projects, trade or specification-led channels
  • Deep product, technical and application knowledge of commercial lighting solutions
  • Strong commercial and analytical mindset, comfortable managing long sales cycles
  • Excellent communication, presentation and relationship-building skills
  • Highly self-motivated, autonomous and results-driven
  • Full UK driving licence with willingness to travel nationwide
